Predictions for 2018

2017 was a pretty crazy year. Bezeless Smartphones took over the streets. #metoo shook the lands. Massive hurricanes took over. I got around 11 out of my 20 predictions right…but 2018 seems like it’s going to be tougher to predict. But I’m still gonna try.

  1. The media will be focusing a lot of their efforts around 1 year behind the wheel of Donald. The president will most certainly be tweeting a pat on the back for what he considers to be accomplished.
  2. No new major challenges for the first quarter of the year will be created (at the scale of the water bottle flip challenge).
  3.  From February-March, new investigations occur with Donald Trump. In a rush of events sparked by his own statements, political tensions once again arise, with the alt-right and left clashing the hardest.Media distrust is coming closer and closer to its peak.
  4. A major new app surrounding quizzes and pictography breaks ground, going viral to a major and competitive stance.
  5.  Smash hits from Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and Justin Beiber, as well as one lesser-known artist, makes mass viral ground as the trend of similar music continues to grow.
  6. Jan 7-12: CES 2017- Samsung (SSNLF) teases the s9, making headlines access tech publications. New smart home appliances are a rave at both LG and Samsung’s keynotes.
  7. Jan 7-12:  New smart speaker partnerships with Amazon and higher explorations in AI will be released for products like TV’s and fridges.
  8. Jan 5-9: CES 2017 Nissan, Toyota, and Honda will discuss their plans regarding future form of alternative energy in their vehicles as well as a newer, gardened focus on self-driving vehicles- the main focus of both Hyundai and Mercedes.
  9.  Nokia releases new updates to existing phones in MWC, while Motorola presents a more powerful, bezeless moto G6.
  10. June 9: The smartwatch becomes a major centerpiece for AI, as AI-based companies see the smartwatch as a potential harness for assistance on the go.
  11. August-November: Nokia strikes harder in the smartphone game with a new, Android-based flagship that goes head-to-head with the likes of Galaxy, Pixel, and iPhone with a bezeless screen and a stellar screen for unorthodox costs.
  12. Jan-April: Samsung releases the next-generation of the Galaxy, which will be at the pinnacle of performance, camera results, battery life, design, and features. It will be based higher on AI and major new camera performance will be it’s selling feature.
  13. September: Apple releases iPhone 10s (or 11) with minor updates, similar to what happened with the 7 to 8.
  14. Jan-Dec: Apple will see the decline in total sales and market share in the industry, due to it’s lack of trustworthiness with dying iPhones and hiked prices and increased competition from the budget end.
  15. Jan-Dec: With coding materials at their disposable, design-based startups will see increased attention with their products.
  16. Jan-Dec: Nintendo will make a rise on new games, but the Switch will see increased competition from Xbox and PS with similar handsets in development.
  17. Jan-Dec: 20+ major political protests (and/or riots) will arise, revolving mainly around the cultural changes and reforms, as well as high-profile reactions to acts of racial in the ending quarter and mainly sexual profiling for the beginning quarter, with a transition in the middle.
  18. Jan-Dec: A social media movement will arise as a result of a controversial racial-profiling event. Will be centered on minorities and/or unity. Possible campaign will be evolutions and branches of #metoo and the #blacklives matter campaigns to more centered and focused campaigns.
